Compassion Runs Deep

IMG_6928I am learning that each incident with a three year old (or any aged child, for that matter) needs to be taken in stride. Sometimes I cannot understand why she is so upset.

Why is she so distressed when her horse does not stay connected to the ribbons, chip-clips, and beaded necklaces that she has tried so hard to make into a halter? Is it really that important that her letters be perfect each time?  Why does her corral need to be just perfect, so “no horses get out”?

The list could go on. Often times things that trouble someone else may not seem like that big of a deal to me.

Potato of the day: Seek to have compassion for the circumstances that cause others discord.

I may not think it’s “that big of a deal,” but someone else may be having a huge struggle. When I offer compassion, rather than trying to justify why they shouldn’t feel that way, I allow them their feelings and I open my heart to be more available to their personal accomplishments.
